Ever been at home and wished you had a document from your office computer? Maybe you are travelling and want to look at the family budget spreadsheet that you store on your wife's computer. Now there is a place on the internet where you can store your documents so that you can easily work on them from anywhere you can get online.
Google Docs is still in Beta or testing, but anyone can use it. All you need is an internet connection and a Google login. Go to http://docs.google.gom and sign in. If you don't have a Google login, then click "Get started" on the right.
Once you are logged in you can easily upload existing Excel, Word and PowerPoint documents from your computer or simply start new documents online. Here are a few of the many things you can do with Google Docs:
- Share your documents with other users so they can view them or make changes as well
- Create folders and organize your documents
- Print your documents
- Export documents to Adobe PDF format
Click on Help in the upper right corner and you will find easy to browse instructions on doing all the things you want to do with Google Docs.
There are some limits on document sizes, but Google Docs is a great place to store documents you need to access form anywhere or share with others.
